In an interview with Total Film, Bruce Campbell spilled more details on the upcoming “Evil Dead” reboot, insisting that we shouldn’t expect the comedy seen in the sequels.
“The movie is not funny,” Campbell said. “The movie is old-fashioned, retro horror. There’s not a snappy line in the whole movie. The first movie wasn’t like that and this is a remake of the first movie. He’s matching the tone of the first movie which is not har-de-har-har.”
Campbell went on to say that “Evil Dead” 2.0 is sure to scare the pants off audiences.
“It’s going to be a horror extravaganza,” he said. “Not in terms of size, but in terms of the intensity of the horror you will experience. This movie is going to blow the fricking doors off. It’s just five new actors and a nasty book they should have left alone.”
Since we’re still not sure why Sam Raimi and Campbell decided to remake one of their greatest movies ever, we weren’t totally convinced by Campbell’s words. But then we watched the trailer, just released today. And guys, Campbell was not kidding when he said it was intense. Check it out below.
“Evil Dead” opens in theaters April 12, 2013.
