Jack White may be the last true rock star. Really. Just like films, rock is so dominated by small groups and large groups, but ultimately, they are still groups. When is the last time rock has produced someone of such shape shifting talents as Jack White?
He can claim that The White Stripes were on top of the world until they split in February 2011, as well as a being the vocalist and guitarist for The Raconteurs and the drummer of The Dead Weather. Then to top that off, White released his debut solo album, Blunderbuss, on April 24, 2012. Not a bad resume for a rock star.
It was a bit sad to have to pick sides in the AMD Stage, young, Jack White-crowd versus the Bud Light Stage, older, Neil Young-crowd, but you have to make choices as a festival goer, and I think most people were happy with their choice. Jack White truly displayed incredible range with songs like “Ball and Biscuit” and “Steady, As She Goes”, as well as playing some great gems from his new solo album “Freedom at 21″ and “Hypocritical Kiss”
Seemingly perfect for a Saturday night ACL headliner, Jack White in no way disappointed, and added another legend to his belt with his supremely satisfying set on Saturday night.
