Playing in Zilker Park for Austin City Limits for about the 800th year in a row, Tegan and Sara took the stage at an early 4:30 and played the same size of crowd that I’ve always seen them play for; for some reason Tegan and Sara always bring a large number of people even though they are generally slotted pretty early in the day. Don’t get me wrong, their music is catchy, fun, and they have a grand following, but my experience seeing them this time around was nothing especially extraordinary. Their vocal harmonies that usually match so eloquently were for some reason or another lost in the sea of dust and sweat that drenched the stomping grounds of ACL during their performance. The musicianship was all there, but the vocal performances seemed extremely lackluster and often times they were not even singing in the same key, or just one would sing without the other trying to harmonize at all—it was, unfortunately, the weakest performance I’ve seen of these veterans of ACL.

Below is the set-list for the show:

Walking With A Ghost
Hell
So Jealous
The Con
I’m Not Your Hero
Nineteen
Messed Up
Call It Off
Where Does The Good Go
Alligator
Back In Your Head
Closer
Feel It In My Bones
Living Room
